BREAKING NEWS
Layoffs scheduled for Monday have been delayed.
OPEIU Local 6 and the Trial Court have agreed that none of our members in the Probation Department will be laid off on Monday. Instead, the layoffs will be delayed for two weeks.
The Chief Justice has agreed to modify the furlough program so that OPEIU Local 6 members can take one furlough day every other week—instead of one day a week. With this change, we should be able save 65 of our coworkers’ job. We will be sending out ballots early next week for a vote on this modified option.
In the meantime we must petition our state representatives and urge them to override the Governor’s veto of the funds needed for the Probation Department and save the jobs of working families.
If the Legislature overrides the Governor’s veto, the layoffs will be averted and we will save our fellow OPEIU Local 6 members’ jobs.
Please post and circulate.
