OPEIU Local 6 News Flash October 30, 2009
This morning it was officially confirmed that Governor Deval Patrick unfortunately vetoed the bill that was going to restore money to the Office of the Commissioner of Probation (H.4288, Section 2, Line Item 0339-1001). Local 6 Probation Department members have rejected the proposed furlough program by a narrow margin of 242-232. As a result, layoffs will be effective on Monday. However, the fight to save jobs is not over. We will lobby and urge the Legislature to override the veto and return our fellow union members back to work. Please call your legislators and tell them to override the Governor’s veto and support working families. We will keep you informed as the situation changes. Please post and circulate.
