UPDATED INFO
The Union met with the Trial Court leadership and the Commissioner of Probation today to finalize details on the proposed eight-day furlough for probation department employees.
Letters and ballots will be sent on October 16, 2009 to every OPEIU Local 6 member who works for the Probation Department or the Office of the Commission of Probation asking them to vote whether the union members in probation should participate in the furlough. A furlough will save approximately 65 jobs that are slated for lay-off and we are urging members to support this proposal.
We thank everyone who has already called the Legislature asking them to fully fund the Commissioner’s budget. Your calls are having an impact. We urge you to continue calling, no matter what department or division of the Court you work in. Please continue to call the following:
Senate Ways & Means
Sen. Steven Panagiotakos Chairman 617-722-1630
House Ways & Means
Rep. Charles Murphy Chairman 617-722-2990
Please post and circulate.
