Chief Justice Offers Voluntary Cost Reduction Plan
As part of ongoing efforts to address the financial crisis, representatives from the office of the Chief Justice for Administration and Management met with the Union to discuss ways to reduce costs. The Chief Justice has announced a plan to allow employees to voluntarily reduce their hours, take extended leaves of absence, or take layoffs in fiscal year 2010. These measures are similar to those offered in 2002.
If you are interested in any of the plans that the Chief Justice has announced please read the information carefully before making any decision. The deadline to submit form F18V is May 1, 2009.
Mileage Rate Adjusted Due to Dropping Gas Costs
When the gas prices soared to $4 a gallon last year, the Union went to management and negotiated an increase in the mileage reimbursement rate. Now that the price of gas has dropped, we have agreed to reduce the mileage rate to .40 cents a mile. We believe that this practice makes sense as it allows for us to approach the issue again if prices rise.
The rate is the same across the Trial Court and mirrors that of the Executive Branch.
Please post and circulate.
